Welcome to the “Long Reach for Out Reach” website. This project, funded by the Queensland Government's Community Benefit Fund, has been designed to assist people who work with or come into regular contact with same sex attracted young people. We believe the information on this site assists readers to understand those with sexual diversity. The site contains information that is relevant not only to the professional working with young people, but also for families with loved ones who may be questioning or have disclosed their diverse sexual orientation.

Additionally, there is information for the young person to assist them understand their sexual orientation. Included are tips on how and when to disclose to loved ones and their possible reactions. This project is designed to provide easy access to information and ongoing referrals to relevant agencies where possible. This we believe hastens understanding for all involved. This is a time that can be very difficult for the whole family.

Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG) has initiated this project because of the ongoing need for information, understanding and acceptance of young lesbians and gays especially in rural and regional areas. The booklet “Sexuality is not a Choice” also contains extra information for families with bisexual and transgender sons and daughters. We thank the Queensland Government's Community Benefit Fund for their generosity in funding this project.
